About Us

The Center for Political and Administrative Research and Training (CIAPA) is a private, non-profit organization, established under the auspices of, and currently managed by, Tulane University.

Its mission is to advance academic knowledge through social science research and contribute to the public policy debate aimed at solving Latin American economic, political, and social issues, with an emphasis on the Central American region. Its work is driven by permanent, associate, and visiting researchers, the promotion of publications, exchanges with academic institutions, and the organization of symposiums, lectures, and seminars.

CIAPA is a think tank and research institution. Its work addresses the need of societies to tackle modern challenges in their development, both from domestic perspectives and in relation to international economic and political structures. CIAPA aims to serve as a national and international forum to foster the study, debate, and analysis of issues impacting the social, economic, and political development of Latin American countries.
